The four-time MVP of the team Curley was the team’s leader for the 1994 team that made it into the Elite Eight of the NCAA basketball tournament. The year 1994 was the time he won his BC “Eagle of the Year” award for being the school’s best athlete (subsequently admitted into the Boston College Hall of Fame on the 12th of November the 12th of November, 2006). The coach at Boston College, Jim O’Brien called him “…one of the greatest players in the history of Boston College.”

The team that selected him was the San Antonio Spurs in the first round (22nd overall) of the 1994 NBA Draft, Curley played for five NBA seasons for five teams that included The Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks. In his professional time, he was plagued by injuries, and he was out of the season from 1995 to 1997. He played only 53 regular season games during his rookie season.

He decided to take a college from his home team known as The Boston College Eagles. In Boston, Curley helped to revive the basketball team of the school. Curley was named the Big East Conference Rookie of the year in 1991, and was twice named the first team All-Big Eastern player.

In 2011, he became an assistant at Emerson College in Boston under his Boston College coach Jim O’Brien. Upon O’Brien’s retirement in 2014, Curley was named interim head coach of the Lions. In 2019, he led Emerson to its first NEWMAC championship and its first NCAA tournament appearance.
