Drake Reveals That His New Album Is Coming Out In January 2021

Publish date: 2024-05-24

Entertainment Tonight reported today on a post from Drake‘s record label, OVO Sound, in which they revealed the rapper was going to be dropping a brand new album in January of next year. Certified Lover Boy, the Toronto artist’s latest project, will come out in January 2021.

Fans of the performing artist noticed how Drake included allusions to his past mixtapes and records including, Take Care, So Far Gone, and Nothing Was The Same. Certified Lover Boy marks Drake’s sixth studio record since he dropped Scorpion back in 2018.

Certified Lover Boy was supposed to come out in the summer months of this year, but Drake and his team chose to postpone it, probably on account of the coronavirus, although, the reason hasn’t been confirmed by the artist’s team.

“Laugh Now Cry Later,” featuring Lil’ Durk, dropped on the 14th of August and it landed at the second spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, Entertainment Tonight claims. Additionally, Drake released Dark Lane Demo Tapes on his Soundcloud which included performances from people like Playboi Carti, Young Thug, Giveon, and Future.

According to multiple reports, Drake is now the best selling artist of all time. RIAA claims Drake has sold 163.5 million units during his time as a performing artist. Earlier this year, the Toronto rapper’s success was celebrated once again when Apple Music confirmed that “God’s Plan” was the most streamed track ever on their platform.

The next song on the list is “SICKO MODE” from Travis Scott, which also features a performance from Drake. After, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’s tune, “Old Town Road” follows, which the rapper – who came out as gay amid his rise to fame – dropped in 2019.

Lil Nas X’s song was at the top of the charts for several weeks. Regarding Drake and his success, the rapper has managed to make some enemies in the rap scene, for instance, he and Pusha-T publicly feuded for weeks amid the release of Pusha’s record, Daytona.

Pusha-T published a picture of Drake wearing blackface which Drake later said was a critique of the way in which black people are treated by the entertainment business.
