Mike Evan Cause Of Death How Did He Die?

Mike Evans, who was best known for his role as Lionel Jefferson on “The Jeffersons” and the 1970s comedy “All in the Family,” passed away on December 14, 2006, at the age of 57 due to throat cancer.

His passing was a tragedy for his friends and family, especially his niece Chrystal Evans, who shared a deep bond with him. 

Mike met Helena Jefferson in July 1974, and they were married on January 10th, 1976; her passing from breast cancer in 2002 preceded his own death from throat cancer just four years later.

At the time of his untimely death, Mike was living in Twentynine Palms, CA at his mother’s residence.

Evan’s Background 

Michael Jonas Evans was born in Salisbury, North Carolina, on November 3rd, 1949. His mother, Annie Sue Evans, was a teacher while his father Theodore Evans Sr. worked as a dentist. 

Before embarking on an acting career he attended Los Angeles City College to refine his skills in the craft. He achieved success with his long-standing role as Lionel Jefferson in ‘All in the Family‘ and its spinoff show ‘The Jeffersons‘. 

After performing for four years as Lionel Jefferson he took some time away from the character before reprising it from 1979 to 1981.

Throughout his career, Michael also made minor appearances on various other shows such as ‘Love, American Style‘, ‘The Streets of San Francisco‘ and the 1976 TV miniseries ‘Rich Man, Poor Man‘.

His final appearance was in a 2000 “Walker, Texas Ranger” episode. He had recently made Southern California real estate investments.
